Green & Dale Associates provided the community garden design for the Office of Housing high-rise estate. This project is dedicated to tenants aged 55+ in the Holmes St retirement community housing, Northcote, Melbourne. Planting is predominantly native vegetation along the entryway to the high-rise which softens the frontage. Plant screening is also provided around the site which helps to protect what would be an otherwise exposed site. Located at the rear of the estate, the community garden is situated within the wider estate grounds. As an older persons estate, all of the garden beds are raised for easier access. Surrounding the planter beds are a variety of seating areas to accommodate different group sizes, as well as areas which incorporate design elements created by the estate’s residents.
