The site of a large scale, contemporary garden designed and developed by Green & Dale Associates, in association with Design Architects, Kaneo Nomura of Tokyo and Melbourne based, Keith Streames Associates. The brief called for the garden to be highly integrated with the new architecture, acknowledging the sustainable elements of the contemporary design. Located in the foothills of the Strathbogie Ranges, the site’s European history dates back to the turn of the century. The new design reconciles the landscape themes of a contemporary Japanese-Australian garden with an established European garden heritage. Creative low energy construction, reducing life cycle cost and acknowledging regional precedents in design and construction technology, provided a strong basis for design.
